Tag-Borne Attacks against RFID Middleware
Attacks against Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems are currently conceived as properly formatted but fake RFID data; however no one currently expects an RFID tag to send a SQL injection attack or a buffer overflow. This talk will discuss how how data from RFID tags can be used to exploit back-end software systems. The discussion will first define RFID malware (RFID exploits, RFID worms, and RFID viruses), and will then describe the application scenarios, infection mechanisms, and payloads. We will then explain what RFID middleware writers can do to stop RFID malware.
