Smart Card Security Analysis

After an introduction to smart cards, security threats to smart cards will be identified. More specifically, attention will be paid to attacks on the hardware of a smart card (reverse engineering, techniques for etching and probing memories and databusses on smart cards). Moreover external analysis techniques will be discussed: timing attacks, simple power analysis (SPA), differential power analysis (DPA). Besides possibilities for DFA (differential power analysis) will be indicated.
